Taipei, Aug. 31, 2009 (CENS)--The consolidated financial statement recently released by Acer Inc. showed the company registered NT$1.66 (US$0.05 at US$1:N$32.9) in earnings per share (EPS) in the first half of this year.

Acer said it posed NT$119 billion (US$3.61 billion) in consolidated sales in the second quarter of this year, almost equaling that in the first quarter, despite the 14% quarter-on-quarter growth in non-consolidated sales for the second quarter.

According to a domestic securities investment and trust company, the non-consolidated sales include the products shipped to overseas subsidiaries in line with acceptable accounting standards. But the sales of these products will be deducted from the consolidated financial statement if they weren't sold in the overseas terminal market.

Nevertheless, some foreign institutional investors noted Acer's operations should be based on the consolidated financial report, indicating that Acer's sales performance in the second quarter met expectations.

Acer's consolidated sales amounted to NT$238.1 billion (US$32.93 million) in the first half of this year, down 6% year-on-year. The company posted NT$4.37 billion (US$132.82 million) in after-tax earnings in the first half of this year, down 20% from a year earlier.

Acer predicted it would see a 40% growth in sales of NB personal computers in the second half of this year from the first half.
