SAI Wins New Orders for High-level Forged Wheel Rims

2008/03/20 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, March 20, 2008 (CENS)--SuperAlloy Industrial Co., Ltd. (SAI), the third-largest producer of passenger-car forged aluminum wheel-rims in Taiwan, recently claimed successful development of new customers and markets.

SAI's president Shih Cheng-tze disclosed that his company used to work hard to venture into the supply chains of major American automakers such as GM, Ford and Chrysler, but it is actively developing sales to new customers in other regional markets.

Some new customers have placed orders for SAI's forged wheels, including Lexus North America and Jaguar of the U.K.

According to Shih, SAI will start shipping high-end forged wheels to Jaguar's limited-volume sport car XKF from April. In the past, most of Jaguar's sport-car models were equipped with die-cast or pressed wheel rims. In addition, the president added, his company is in talks with Jaguar over the development of new wheel rims for Jaguar's new car model to be pushed in July this year.

SAI is also scheduled to deliver the first batch of forged wheels to Lexus North America next month. Shih said that if the products meet Toyota's requirements his company is expected to win more orders in the future.

Shih also added that SAI recently won an order for forged golf club heads from a new customer, and his company would produce the heads and contract local club makers to assemble them into finished products for shipments.

The president stressed that the golf-club industry is expected to enjoy lucrative operations this year thanks to the increasing business opportunities generated by the upcoming 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
