Family Mart earned NT$0.61 per share in Jan.-April

Taipei, May 19, 2003 (CENS)--Taiwan Family Mart Co., Ltd., the operator of the local Family Mart chain of convenience stores, reaped earnings per share (EPS) of NT$0.61 for the first four months of this year.

Taiwan Family Mart is listed on the local over-the-counter bourse. The company garnered revenue of N$1.889 billion last month, growing by 8.94% from the NT$1.734 billion posted in April last year. For the first four months of this year, the company brought in cumulative revenue of NT$7.317 billion, going up by 9.75% from the NT$6.667 billion recorded in the same four months of 2002 and attaining 29.50% of the goal for 2002.

Meanwhile, Taiwan Family Mart reaped pretax profit of NT$41.59 million last month, rising by 9.25% from the NT$38.07 million registered a year earlier. The company raked in four-month pretax profit of NT$104.47 million, climbing by 69.90% from the NT$61.49 billion recorded in January-April last year and fulfilling 17.65% of the 2003 target. The company's four-month pretax profit was equivalent to earnings per share of NT$0.61.

Taiwan Family Mart projects revenue of NT$24.80 billion, pretax profit of NT$592 million, and EPS of NT$3.2 based on the capital after ex-right for this year. The company plans to expand its chain to 1,457 stores by the end of this year.
