Domestic prices of polyester products up for Sept.

Taipei, Aug. 27, 2003 (CENS)--Local manufacturers of polyester compound, polyester filament yarn, and polyester staple fiber have decided to adjust up their domestic sales prices by NT$2 per kilogram each for September, in a bid to reflect increased costs.

Main local producers of these polyester products include Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Far Eastern Textile Ltd., Shinkong Synthetic Fibers Corp., and Tainan Spinning Co., Ltd.

EG (ethylene glycol) and PTA (purified terephthalic acid) are two main materials of polyester products. The domestic contract price per metric ton of EG will rise by US$30-50 to US$720 and that of PTA by US$20-40 to US$590 for September. In response, local producers of polyester compound, polyester filament yarn, and polyester staple fiber will hike their domestic sales prices by NT$2 per kilogram accordingly.

Moreover, local manufacturers of polyester textured yarn have also decided to jack up their domestic sales prices by NT$2-3 per kilogram to reflect the hiked material cost of polyester filament yarn. The price increase for polyester textured yarn of 75 deniers are larger than for that of 150 deniers and 300 deniers.
