3 listed thermistor makers hit all-time 2nd highest revenues in July

Taipei, Aug. 13, 2003 (CENS)--Thinking Electronic Industrial Co., Ltd., Taiwan Alpha Electronic Co., Ltd., and Polytronics Technology Corp., three main local manufacturers of thermistors (thermal resistors), brought in their historically second highest monthly revenues in July.

Thinking Electronic is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and the other two on the local over-the-counter bourse.

Thinking Electronic rang up revenue of NT$71.14 million last month, rising by 27.7% from July last year. The company offered SMD (surface mount technology) varistors (variable resistors) used in cellular phones early this year and expects the monthly sales volume to exceed 10 million such varistors at the end of this year.

Taiwan Alpha is the largest maker of varistors in Taiwan. The company chalked up revenue of NT$37.18 million in July, jumping by 33% from a year earlier. During the January-July period, the company garnered revenue of NT$222 million, growing by 4.6% from the same period of this year.

Polytronic Technology specializes in making PPTC (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) thermistors. The company's revenue for July stood at NT$46.48 million, going up by 57.5% from July last year and by 18.1% from June this year. The company raked in seven-month revenue of NT$296 million, a year-on-year rise of 41.5%.
