Ya Hsin Industrial netted NT$1.96 per share in Jan.-June

Taipei, Aug. 4, 2003 (CENS)--Ya Hsin Industrial Co., Ltd., a main local PCB (printed circuit board) manufacturer listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, scored net (after-tax) earnings per share (EPS) of NT$1.96 for the first half of this year.

Ya Hsin produces PCBs used in PlayStation 2 (PS2), X-Box, DVD (digital versatile display) players, CD-RW (compact disk-rewritable) burners, and digital still cameras. PS2 and X-Box are game console models developed by Sony and Microsoft, respectively.

Ya Hsin raked in cumulative revenue of NT$6.65 billion in the first half of this year, jumping by 59% from the same six months of last year and attaining 44.33% of the NT$15.0 billion projected for this year.

In the meantime, the company reaped six-month after-tax profit of NT$900 million, climbing by 66.67% from the NT$540 million posted in the same period of 2002 and fulfilling 45.00% of the goal of NT$20.0 billion for this year. The company's six-month after-tax profit was equivalent to net EPS of NT$1.96 based on the capital at the end of June this year or NT$1.51 based on the current capital after ex-right.

Thanks to brisk sales of PCBs used in PS2 and DVD players, Ya Hsin expects its revenue for July to exceed N$1.4 billion and this quarter's revenue to attain NT$4.6 billion.
