Local makers of nylon yarn hike domestic & export prices

Taipei, July 3, 2003 (CENS)--Local manufacturers of nylon yarn, in light of growing domestic demand and orders from mainland China, just raised their domestic sales prices and export quotations by NT$2-3 per kilogram for this month.

Li Peng Enterprise Co., Ltd., a local manufacturer, turns out 3,500 metric tons of nylon compound and 3,500 metric tons of nylon filament yarn a month. The company recently received orders for 6,500 metric tons of nylon filament yarn, a volume in excess of the company's monthly production capacity. Thus, the company cannot but reduce the supply volume.

Li Peng raised its domestic sales price per kilogram of 70-denior nylon filament yarn by NT$2-3 to NT$63 and the corresponding export price by NT$2-3 to NT$62. Other local makers of 50-denior nylon yarn jacked up their domestic sales prices to NT$75-80 per kilogram.

Tri Ocean Textile Co., Ltd. Is the largest local producer of TASLON, a type of nylon yarn, with monthly production capacity of 800 metric tons. In case of 160-denior TASLON, the company adjusted up its domestic and export prices by an average of NT$5 per kilogram to NT$90-92 per kilogram.
