Thinking Electronic passes certification by Motorola, Nokia

Taipei, June 3, 2003 (CENS)--Thinking Electronic Industrial Co., Ltd., a local producer of thermistors (thermal resistors) listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, recently obtained product certification for thermistors used in cellular phones from Motorola and Nokia.

Thinking Electronic has succeeded in development and then started volume production of two types of SMD (surface mount device) thermistors for use in cellular phones, coded as TSM and TVM in the company's product catalogue.

Subsequently, Thinking Electronic had TSM and TVM passed the product certifications by Motorola and Nokia. Thinking Electronic expects to deliver 700,000 TSM and TVM thermistors to Motorola. Meanwhile, the order from Nokia is estimated to bring in additional revenue of NT$20 million this year, the company indicated.

In addition to Motorola and Nokia, Thinking Electronic's main clients of its thermistors include ABB, Osram, and Philips. In particular, the company recently began to deliver CPTC (ceramic positive temperature coefficient) thermistors used in display panels to Philips in a small volume.
