Prosperity Dielectrics, King Core posted 4-month EPS of NT$0.31, NT$1.16

Taipei, May 19, 2003 (CENS)--Prosperity Dielectrics Co., Ltd. And King Core Electronics Inc., two local makers of electric passive devices listed on the local over-the-counter bourse, recorded earnings per share (EPS) of NT$0.31 and NT$1.16, respectively, for the first four months of this year.

Prosperity Dielectrics produces MLCC (multi-layer ceramic chip capacitors), chip resistors, and ceramic dielectric powder. The company rang up revenue of NT$416 million for the first four months of this year, dropping by 9.4% from the same four months of last year and fulfilling 25.06% of the NT$1.66 billion projected for this year.

With pretax profit of NT$9.5 million for last month, Prosperity Dielectrics raked in four-month pretax profit of NT$29.63 million, 79.47% in excess of the NT$16.51 million expected for the period and attaining 18.07% of the goal of NT$164 million for this year.

Prosperity Dielectrics' four-month pretax profit was equivalent to EPS of NT$0.31 based on the current capital of NT$953 million and of NT$0.29 based on the increased capital of NT$1.006 billion after ex-right.

King Core Electronics is a manufacturer of electric inductors. The company reaped pretax profit of NT$17.554 million last month, jumping by 56.4% from April last year and by 56.6% from March this year. The company brought in four-month pretax profit of NT$43.163 million, translating into EPS of NT$1.16 based on the current capital of NT$372 million. The company estimated revenue of NT$31 million for this month and that of NT$99.05 million for this quarter, with the latter rising by 26.03% from the first quarter of this year.
