Taipei, March 14, 2003 (CENS)--Tong-Tai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd., a main local manufacturer of machine tools listed on the over-the-counter bourse, recorded earnings per share (EPS) of NT$0.43 for the first two months of this year.

Tong-Tai produces a variety of machine tools including machining centers, super high-speed PCB (printed circuit board) drilling machines, CNC (computerized numerically controlled) lathes, and optical fiber coupling machines.

The company rang up revenue of NT$141 million last month, increasing by 21.77% from February last year. For January-February this year, the company raked in cumulative revenue of NT$281 million, rising by 20.49% from the same two months of 2002.

Meanwhile, Tong-Tai reaped pretax profit of NT$16.23 million last month, soaring by 367.18% from a year earlier. The company garnered two-month pretax profit of NT$28.45 million, a whopping year-on-year hike of 152.65% and translating into EPS of NT$0.43.

Tong-Tai received orders worth NT$178 million in total last month, with the two-month total order value of NT$442 million climbing by 82.87% from January-February last year. The value of the orders for which deliveries have not yet been made amounts to NT$820 million at present.

The company posted pretax profit of NT$199 million last year, 15% in excess of the projection for 2002 and equivalent to EPS of NT$3.02.
