Taipei, Feb. 6, 2003 (CENS)--Thinking Electronic Industrial Co., Ltd., a main local manufacturer of thermistors (thermal resistors) listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, recorded earnings per share (EPS) of NT$2.08 for the year of 2002.

Thinking Electronic rang up revenue of NT$61 million in December last year, growing by 17.65% from the NT$51.85 million posted in December 2001 but dropping by 10.18% from the NT$67.91 million recorded in November 2002. The company's revenue for last year came to NT$730 million, fulfilling 88.16% of the NT$828 million projected for 2002.

Meanwhile, Thinking Electronic reaped pretax profit of NT$170 million, attaining 94.4% of the goal for last year and the highest annual level in five years. The company's pretax profit for last year, based on the current capital, was equivalent to EPS of NT$2.08, jumping by over 40% from 2001.

Thinking Electronic's non-operating investment accounted for its pretax profit for last year. Yenyo Technology Co., Ltd., a local producer of GPP (glass passivated) diode chips in which Thinking Electronic has a 63% stake, posted after-tax loss of NT$9.02 million last year, much smaller than the projected NT$78 million and thereby causing largely reduced net loss on non-operating investment for Thinking Electronic.

On the other hand, Thinking Electronic's subsidiary manufacturer in mainland China made much more money than originally expected last year, contributing more than estimated return on Thinking Electronic's investment.
