New accounting firm DTT to have 33% market share in Taiwan

Taipei, May 30, 2003 (CENS)--The largest accounting firm in Taiwan will emerge on Sunday, June 1 out of the merger of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and T N Soong & Co. The new company will have 115 partners with a total of 2,000 employees.

The new company will operate in Taiwan under the new the name of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) and it will become the Taiwan partner of the DTT Group, one of the top four accounting firms in the world.

In addition to accounting services, the firm also provides management and tax consulting services. It will have a market share of 33% on the island. The combined market value of its clients -- 344 companies traded on the two stock exchanges --exceeds NT$4.19 trillion. Among the 13 financial holding companies in Taiwan, six are customers of DTT.

The company has planned a series of activities for celebration. But the programs, including seminars, have been rescheduled for the second half of the year when the SARS outbreak comes under control.
