Development of Pingtung EPZ to be completed in 2005

Taipei, Aug. 4, 2003 (CENS)--The development of an export processing zone in Pingtung County, southern Taiwan, for the biotechnology and auto industries will be completed by the end of 2005, according to officials with the Export Processing Zone Administration.

The new export processing zone will occupy an area of 124 hectares and is only 20 to 30 minutes away by car from the Kaohsiung Harbor and the Kaohsiung International Airport. It will become a part of the free trade harbor area of Kaohsiung, the biggest city in southern Taiwan.

The officials said the sewer system in the zone has just been completed and that the road system and the installation of electrical facilities and pipes will be completed in March, 2004.
