MOEA industrial symposium to last until March 28

Taipei, March 17, 2003 (CENS)--The 2003 symposium on Taiwan industrial vitality and new opportunities sponsored by the Industrial Technology Information Service (IT IS) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will open in Taipei today.

The two-week symposium will be a forum for government officials, industry leaders and savants to conduct in-depth discussion on the development and strategies for a wide variety of industries.

The discussions will cover industries like broadband telecom services, Ics, information technology (IT) products, LCD displays and materials, LCD TV sets, electronic parts and components, biotechnology, nanotechnology, foods, medical equipment, textile, advanced machine tools, metals, instruments, shipbuilding, automobiles, and electrical machinery equipment.

The application of nanotechnology to traditional manufacturing operations is among the new features added to the symposium this year.

Over 400 participants have registered for the series of seminars that will last until March 28.
