Taipei, Oct. 7, 2003 (CENS)--The 2003 Taiwan International Electronics Show (2003 Taitronics), one of the most important annual events for Asian's electronics industry, will be held in Taipei in October, including the Taitronics Components & Equipment slated for Oct. 9-13, and Finished Products Oct. 16-20.

According to show organizers Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) and China External Trade Development Council (CETRA), this year's event would first include about 60 mainland China-based exhibitors.

As the number of exhibitors surpassed 3,000, show organizers said that the show, now in its 29th year, would be divided into two sections because of the limited display space available at the exhibition halls of the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC).

The two days between the two sections will be used by the two organizers to hold a series of industry seminars and forums at the Taipei International Convention Center in the TWTC complex. These events will be presided over by prominent experts from the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, and Taiwan.

Several state-of-the-art technologies and products will be displayed at the 2003 Taitronics as main themes amid the digital home appliance era, including information appliance (IA), wireless telecom, networking communication, optoelectronic display, and digital camera, etc.

CETRA and TEEMA said that the inclusion of mainland Chinese exhibitors is expected to further expand the exhibition scale and make the annual event a more important transaction platform to serve global buyers.

The show organizers said that a mainland Chinese exhibitor delegation, which also includes Taiwan-based companies in the mainland, would be led by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) to exhibit their products at the show, using over 100 booths.

According to organizers, the 2003 Taitronics Components & Equipment will have 707 exhibitors using 1,653 booths and the major exhibit categories include electronics parts and components, meters and instruments, electronic manufacturing equipment, wires and cables, heavy-duty electrical machinery equipment, and inspection equipment.

The following 2003 Taitronics Finished Products will have a total of 664 exhibitors using 1,605 booths to show their products under several major themes, including wireless telecom, Bluetooth products, hand-free devices, video conference systems, audio/video equipment, stage technology equipment, Ias, networking equipment, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, and global system for mobile communications (GSM)-based security systems etc.

CETRA and TEEMA will also hold a series of industry seminars at the meeting rooms on the second floor of the TWTC Exhibition Hall I, with major topics including the technology reliability of wireless telecom and component products; electrical and electronic green products testing/certification and lead-free solderability test issues for industries; safety requirements for switching power supply; CE Marking and international approvals; perspective of European safety test and developments in standardization for household appliances; summary of China compulsory certification; battery & power supply-safety requirement introduction; safety testing laboratory requirement; Sirenza micro device products and technology etc.

According to CETA, last year's Taitronics Components & Equipment attracted a total of 832 local and foreign exhibitors, down about 8% from 2001.
