Taipei, March 29, 2005 (CENS)--The 21st Taipei Int'l Auto/Motorcycle Parts & Accessories Show 2005 (Taipei AMPA 2005), the largest auto/motorcycle parts and accessory show in Asia, will be held on May 13-16 in Taipei, with the numbers of both exhibitors and booths hitting new highs.

According to show organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Taipei AMPA 2005 will attract 889 exhibitors (using 2,150 booths), up from 827 exhibitors in 2004. These numbers represent the maximum exhibition capacity at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall 1, 2 and 3.

TAITRA said that the number of foreign buyers visiting the show has been growing stably from around 3,200 in 2001 and 3,900 in 2002 to 51,08 in 2004 (the show was canceled in 2003 due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS). This year, about 5,500 foreign buyers are expected to tour the show. The growth was mainly fueled by the fact that Taiwan-made auto/motorcycle parts and accessories are globally famous for their high quality, reasonable prices, innovation, and good designs. In addition, makers in Taiwan have long been renowned for their small-batch, large-variety production mode and strong ability to find market niches.

According to TAITRA, foreign buyers visiting the 2004 event came mostly from Asia (about 60%). The rest were from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Oceania, Latin America, and Africa. Japanese buyers topped the list, accounting for over 20% of the total foreign buyer turnout.

TAITRA pointed out Taipei AMPA 2005 would serve as one of the best one-stop sourcing centers for automobile and motorcycle parts and accessories, bringing both leading-edge and nuts-and-bolts items together at one venue. Everything from complete engines, parts and accessories, power trains, tires and tubes and brakes to lights and signals, finished motorcycles, and auto/motorcycle frames could be found at the fair. Major trade-media groups will also have booths at the annual event.

At a time when other major trade shows in Taiwan are losing ground to their counterpart events in mainland China, Huang says that Taipei AMPA has been expanding rapidly in the past few years. "The growing pre-show registration of foreign buyers indicates Taipei AMPA has become a sourcing hub in this line," Huang says.

A series of new and innovative products will be debuted at the upcoming show to demonstrate strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities of Taiwan makers, including mini color charge coupling device (CCD) reverse camera, anti-glare auto dimming rear-view mirror, wireless tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rain sensor (for wiper system), various kinds of multi-function in-car multimedia systems etc., according to TAITRA.

TAITRA has posted all the related information about the Taipei AMPA 2005 on the event's official website (www.taipeitradeshows.com.tw/ampa).
