Wexten Precise Industries Co., Ltd., established in 1996, is a manufacturer of cooling systems for machinery and other high-tech items. Many of the company's innovative products have been patented in Taiwan, mainland China, and the United States.

The ISO-9001-approved firm says it has won the gold medal of the National Invention Award in 2004 for its freezing suction pad structure. The company has now set its sights on the Taiwan Innovalue Award.

Wexten president Chou Ching-long says his company has obtained some sophisticated manufacturing technology through an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) cooperation with a Japanese specialist in this field. The acquired technology, along with Wexten's own manufacturing skill, has helped the company develop advanced new products.

At present the company's major product lines include oil cooler for machine tools, cooler for computerized numerically controlled (CNC) metal-cutting machines, heat-pipe heat exchangers, heat-pipe heat exchangers, air conditioners for electrical control panels, water coolers for laser-cutting machines and engraving systems, coolers for electric discharge machines, coolers for CNC wire-cutting machines, water cooler for machine tools, heat exchangers for oil cooling, water coolers for welding machines, cooling air dryers, and thermoelectric modular air conditioners.

Wexten's freezing suction pad consists of three sections, including a controller, a suction pad and a water chiller that pump water to the suction pad to remove heat. The controller of the suction pad has heating and cooling functions that can be set easily for convenient operation. The liquid-cooled freezing suction pad can help rapidly fix workpieces, leaving no clamping residue of distortion of the workpiece.

Wexten can make 450 large-sized coolers and 950 small ones per month. The company sells most of its production to Taiwan, mainland China, Japan, and the U.S. Its total sales reached NT$165 million (US$5.2 million at US$1:NT$31.7) in 2004, up 50% from the previous year. The company expects sales growth to remain at this high level for several few due to the introduction of several new products.

Wexten has two plants--one in Taichung county of central Taiwan and the other in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, mainland China. The company plans to set up a new plant at the Taichung Science-based Industrial Park. Construction is expected to be completed in 2007.
