Arix CNC Machines Co., Ltd., founded in 1995 in Tainan County, southern Taiwan, has risen rapidly to become one of Taiwan's leading manufacturers of computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, with a specialization in high-speed machining centers.
Arix Yang, general manager of the company, says the company's R&D engineers have expertise in the fields of mechanical design, computer hardware and software, machining techniques, and international marketing, enabling them to develop high-precision and cost-attractive new models.
With a work force of 25, the company is capable of rolling out 20 CNC centers per month. These units are exported under the company's "Arix" brand.

Yang says his company is developing advanced technologies needed to manufacture high-speed machining centers. "We can also offer compact machining centers for high-speed processing jobs," says Yang. According to Yang, Arix's smallest high-speed machining center takes up no more than three square meters yet still delivers a robust spindle speed of over 20,000rpm--fast enough to cut through HRC60-class hardened steel.

Arix's machines sell for between US$25,000 and US$50,000 each. Over the past three years, the company has boosted sales by around 30% per year.

Currently the company is developing a double-column high-speed machining center, which will be showcased at the 2005 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) slated for March 15-20 at the Taipei World Trade Center.

The company plans to open a new plant in the Tainan Science-based Industrial Park by the end of this year to keep up with an influx of export orders.
