Taiwan auto-parts delegation to explore OE biz in U.S.

Taipei, March 25, 2005 (CENS)--Taiwan's Yulon Group and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will jointly organize an auto-parts delegation to explore original equipment (OE) auto-parts business in the U.S. in June.

Yulon is the largest automobile-manufacturing conglomerate in Taiwan with two major auto-making affiliates, including the group flagship Yulon Motor Co. (in partnership with Nissan of Japan) and China Motor Corp. (Mitsubishi). The group is scheduled to lead 18 local auto-parts suppliers and represent another 200 local suppliers to Detroit to visit the Big-Three automakers (GM, Ford and Chrysler) and their first-tier suppliers there to seek OE business opportunities. The first-tier parts suppliers include Visteon, Intier, Valeo etc.

According to TAITRA, the auto-parts delegation will be the first mission designed to promote exports of Taiwan-made auto parts. The council said that Yulon Group's parts suppliers in Taiwan account for over 90% of the domestic OE market (including products turned out for other local automakers). In the past years, Yulon has successfully helped local parts suppliers with exports to the group's foreign technical partners, I.e. Nissan and Mitsubishi.

TAITRA added that most local OE auto-parts suppliers are operating on a small- to medium scale, and therefore it's necessary for the council to help them tap the international market with high-quality, competitively-priced products.

Companies in the scheduled Taiwan auto-parts delegations include parts makers National Aerospace Fastener Corp., Nan Hoang Traffic Instrument Co., Ltd. (friction materials), Multiple Corp. (oil seals, rubber parts), Safety Control Cable Industry Co., Ltd., Sumeeko Industries Co., Ltd. (hardware parts, fasteners), Chian Hsing Forging Industrial Co.,Ltd., Dainty Electric Co., Ltd. (electrical parts), Ton Rong Machinery Factory Co, Ltd., Spacious Industrial Co., Ltd. (aluminum casting), Hota Industrial Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (precision gears) etc. as well as auto-electronic makers Delta Electronics, Inc. and Lite-On Technology Inc.
