Introduction

Amicroelectronics Technology, Inc. (MTI) was founded in 1983 by eight ex-patriot engineers who returned from leading high-tech firms in the Silicon Valley to establish Taiwan's first microwave technology firm. Headquartered in the Hsinchu Science Park in Taiwan, MTI designs, manufactures and supplies a broad range of microwave integrated circuit products used for satellite broadcasting, communications, and telecommunications.

Capitalizing on over 15 years of expertise in microwave technology, MTI has evolved from a microwave component manufacturer to a global provider of wireless communications subsystems and systems. MTI distributes its products worldwide

with sales outside of Taiwan comprising 85-90% of MTI's consolidated net sales.

breakthroughs, receiving the following recognition and awards in 1997:

Anineteen-ninety seven also proved to the MTI's transitional year, when MTI introduced a new CEO--Mr. Richard Anderson from Hewlett-

Packard--and decided to focus on its core products. Since this decision in September 1997, MTI's revenues and profits have grown at a very steady pace.
