Buffalo Machinery was founded in 1978 by Louise Hsiao and Paul Chang. Paul Chang has been running the company ever since it was established. Louise Hsiao specializes in cameras while Paul Chang specializes in mechanical engineering.
Buffalo Machinery started out as a trader/exporter of metal-working machines but in 1982, the company decided to enter the camera and photograph equipment business, most of which were imported from Japan . In two years, the company had the exclusive rights for the following products:
