PMC Devoted to Enhancing Capabilities of Taiwan's Precision Machinery Industry

2016/11/07 | By Steve

Precision Machinery Research & Development Center (PMC) is a Taiwanese government-funded R&D body focusing on machinery, including machine tools, robots and related parts and components, and has actively worked with local insiders to boost image and capabilities of the industry in the global market.

According to PMC, the local machinery industry is a major growth propeller among others for Taiwan's export-driven economy. Presently, it contributes 7.4% to the island's overall output value by manufacturing industries, 6.8% to total exports, and 8.0% to overall employment, with approximately 95% of total insiders being small and medium in size and mostly clustering in Taiwan's central region, including Taichung City.

To help local insiders sharpen competitiveness, PMC has joined hands with them to engage in the research and development of processing techniques for various materials, as well as in the improvement of processing efficiency and quality.

Meanwhile, with the Taiwanese government having pinpointed and promoted smart machinery production as a pilot industry among others to drive economic growth in the future, PMC has also made its utmost of efforts to assist local insiders to upgrade their products from “precision machinery” into “smart machinery,” and develop whole-plant solutions targeting foreign buyers.
