Widely recognized as Asia's largest and most influential trade fair for furniture production, woodworking machinery and interior decor materials, CIFM / Interzum Guangzhou (China International Furniture Machinery & Furniture Raw Materials Fair Guangzhou) looks set once again to allow the numbers to speak for themselves, with its organizers, Koelnmesse of Germany and China Foreign Trade Centre, having announced in late December, 2015 that all its booths in the international halls for the 2016 edition have been booked, proving the unquestionable popularity of the fair for both suppliers and buyers.

Scheduled to take place March 28-31, 2016 alongside the China International Furniture Fair 2016 (CIFF 2016) at China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, southeastern China, the two exhibitions will together host over 1,200 exhibitors from all over the world across 16 exhibition halls over an area of 140,000 square meters. The arrangement makes the 2-in-1 event the world's most comprehensive trade fair that literally covers the entire supply chain of the furniture and interior decor sectors.

CIFM / Interzum Guangzhou typically attracts visitors from over 120 countries and regions to visit, procure, build contacts and keep up with current industry trends at the event annually, with the majority of visitors being representatives of furniture manufacturing enterprises. The exhibition's sustained growth is attributable partly to the robust furniture industry of China, which has been ranked first for global furniture production for many years. In 2014, the country exported US$53.1 billion of furniture to command a 37 percent share of the global market.

Besides being the world's largest furniture maker, China has also become world's biggest furniture market mostly thanks to rising affluence and the resulting strong purchasing power that drive steady growth of domestic demand. Equally notable is that quality and customization are increasingly of concern among Chinese consumers when buying furniture, a trend that is evident especially among those with more disposable income, not to mention being a significant market development for suppliers interested in tapping such segment. In fact, the organizers report that presently customized furniture contributes approximately 40 percent to overall furniture sales in China.

In addition to brands and design, Chinese furniture buyers are also developing an eye for details to show a move upmarket, including paying more attention to quality of raw materials and hardware. Under such scenario, suppliers generally believe that high-end, imported materials are sure to be sought-after as is usually the case in emerging markets, which is expected to be more evident at the upcoming CIFM / Interzum Guangzhou 2016 than before.

Local and international industry heavyweights to be present at the 2016 edition include: Wellex, Dongtai, Nanxing, Nantong, Lianrou, Yuantian (China); American Softwoods, Leggett & Platt, HB Fuller (US); French Timber (France); Titus (UK); Repon (Taiwan); Boyteks Tekstil, Comfytex (Turkey); Bekaert, Artilat, Latexco (Belgium); SCM, Italiana Ferramenta, Sige, Ferwood, ICA, Servetto (Italy); Homag, IMA, Leitz, Beckhoff, GreCon, Leuco, Duerkopp, Rehau, Schattdecor, Kleiberit, Lehmann, Vauth-Sagel, Pytha, Renolit, Pollmeier, Okin Refined (Germany); Urufor (Uruguay); Cyber Lock (Thailand); Ecoid (Korea); and Alvic (Spain).

Chinese consumers’ growing sophistication and eye for detail continue to drive growth especially in customized furniture.

The organizers have scheduled a series of engaging activities to raise both the entertainment and educational value of the event. On March 29, the forum “The History & Trends of Furniture Surface Materials” at the PIAZZA Lounge of International Hall 14.1 will enable industry professionals and interested parties to broaden their horizon, with the entertainment value realized in the opportunity to win attractive prizes for participants.

In addition, the PIAZZA will offer complimentary freshly brewed coffee besides the regular choices of fruit juice and red wine. Visitors will also be pleased to know that free Internet via Wi-Fi in Hall 14.1 continues to be available.
