Hon Hai Posts NT$468.9 Bn. in Oct. Revenue for 12.9% MoM Growth

2014/11/20 | By Steve Chuang

Gaining steam from strong sales of Apple Inc.'s new products as  iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., a major contract manufacturer for Apple of the U.S., scored revenue of NT$468.9 billion (US$15.63 billion) in October, up 12.9% month-on-month (MoM), or 22.58% year-on-year (YoY), according to the firm's latest financial report.

The revenue is the second highest in the firm's history, only next to NT$490.9 billion (US$16.36 billion) of last December, when iPhone 5S along with other “iDevices” drove its shipment growths.

Hon Hai attributes such rosy performance mainly to strong shipments of consumer electronics in October, when those of PCs and communication products also showed mild growths.

Institutional investors say hot sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus worldwide are decisive in Hon Hai's banner October revenue, which is confirmed by the firm's revenue that has surged to remain above NT$400 billion for two consecutive months beginning in the September product launches, coupled with continual launches of iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.

For the first 10 months of 2014, Hon Hai's cumulative consolidated revenue totaled NT$3.18 trillion (US$106.07 billion), increasing 5.82% YoY. With those newly launched iDevices expected to remain hot-sellers, the firm will very likely see  50%-plus quarterly growth in Q4  revenue, and finish 2014 with consolidated revenue of NT$4 trillion (US$133.33 billion).

Also notable is that institutional investors widely believe Hon Hai's EPS (earnings per share) in Q3, as yet unpublicized, will exceed NT$2, with gross profit rate, operating margin and net profit margin all to improve from Q2. (SC)
