Cabinet Advisor Liang to Replace C.K. Wang to Head TAITRA

2014/08/25 | By Judy Li

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) recently announced that Francis K.H. Liang, advisor to the Cabinet, is to replace C.K. Wang to head Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the government-backed trade-promoter.

C.K. Wang, aged 72 and current chairman of TAITRA, will  reportedly retire from TAITRA on September 6 after assuming the position in 2008.

During his six-year tenure, Wang has steered TAITRA to reinforce its global strength by expanding the number of overseas offices to more than 60, and more importantly has successfully explored emerging markets, particularly China.

Liang, once the Vice Economics Minister, is a trade and economics veteran and believed to be as competent as Wang, and will keep upgrading TAITRA to play a more important role in promoting Taiwan's external trade. (JL)
