Flytech, Advantech See Rosy Industrial PC Sales Performance in June

2014/07/24 | By Steve Chuang

Fueled by strong market demand for industrial PCs worldwide, Taiwan's Flytech Technology Co., Ltd. and Advantech Corporation both saw rosy performance in June.

Flytech, the largest POS (point of sale) system provider by shipment on the island, scored consolidated revenue of NT$408 million (US$13.9 million) in June, up 1.8% month-on-month (MoM) for a single-month high, adding to its cumulative consolidated revenue of NT$1.189 billion (US$39.6 million) for Q2, 2014, up 20% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), according to the latest financial report.

For H1, the company's consolidated revenue reached NT$2.812 billion for a 7.8% increase year-on-year to exceed market expectations.

Flytech's current uptrend is driven partly by expedited delayed shipments to customers in North America, and partly strong market demand in Europe and Asia. After five consecutive months of growth, its revenue is expected to keep surging in H2, 2014. One main driver of sales for the firm in the short term is a big order just garnered from an European customer from the gambling sector for 6,000-8,000 units of industrial PCs worth up to NT$250 million (US$8.33 million).

Strong market demand for POS systems in advanced economies has benefited Flytech this year.

Advantech, a supplier of industrial PCs, embedded single board computers, and automation controllers and software, posted consolidated revenue of NT$3.11 billion (US$103.66 million) in June, up 3.3% MoM, or 18.6% year-on-year (YoY) for the second all-time high.

The firm finished Q2 with consolidated revenue of NT$9.278 billion, up 13.9% QoQ for a single quarterly high. For H1, cumulative consolidated revenue totaled NT$17.427 billion (US$580.9 million), soaring 20.7% YoY to hit a new high.

Advantech's directors attributes such performance to strong demand in the U.S., Europe and China, with sales by the embedded core business group showing the strongest growth of about 29% so far compared to the same span of last year.

In the near future, the company will focus more on exploring business opportunities brought by the rise of the Internet of Things and smart cities globally to target brisk growth in the next decade. (SC)
