CENS Attends Six Global Shows in June

To help Taiwanese manufacturers, exporters and traders build business globally, CENS attended six overseas trade shows in June to promote product sourcing guides and  help advertising clients build contacts.

The six shows were Automechanika Middle East, Lightfair International, Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, China Int'l Machine Tool & Tools Exhibition (CIMES), InterPlas Thailand, and Fastener Expo Shanghai.

Automechanika Middle EastRenowned as the region's largest and most comprehensive trade and networking exhibition for the automotive aftermarket, Automechanika Middle East covers the full range of parts for motor vehicles, as well as components for drivetrain, chassis, body, electric and electronic, equipment for vehicle service and repair, bodywork, tires, batteries and performance systems.

Automechanika Middle East 2014, held June 3-5 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center, Dubai, UAE, entered its 12th edition and drew 1,696 exhibitors from 59 countries, attracting some 28,882 trade buyers and visitors from over 130 countries during the three-day event.

Compared to last year, the number of visitors rose a sizable 19%, higher than expected to reinforce its leading position in the region. “Automechanika Dubai continues to assert its role as the decisive barometer for the region's automotive aftermarket,” said Ahmed Pau-wels, CEO of organizer Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

According to Dubai Customs, UAE's slice of the aftermarket trade in 2013 grew 8% over the previous year to US$10.8 billion, with imports rising 4%. “Dubai's growing importance as a crucial hub driving regional aftermarket trade underlines the tremendous growth potential of the industry. This is reflected in Automechanika Dubai as the premier platform for international brands to interact with the regional market,” Ahmed Pau-wels added.

With 22 national pavilions and 37 international trade associations, global representation of the  show was evident throughout. Regular German exhibitor Schaeffler Group expressed optimism  about their 2014 outing. Managing Director Ioannis Marios Vrantzoglou said: “We've exhibited at Automechanika Dubai almost since the beginning because it's the most important exhibition for the automotive aftermarket in the region.”

Marcel Van Eeuwen, CEO of Dutch powerhouse Intertruck Group, indicated: “Automechanika Dubai is the ideal platform for us to be here because 60% of all exhibitors here are in the truck and trailer business. The show covers the whole of the Middle East as well as East Africa so we can reach more customers here.”

With plenty of exhibitors beaming at Automechanika Dubai, visitors saw ample proof of the event as the favored platform to source reliable suppliers of auto parts and accessories. Chidi Iwuanyanwu, director of Two Ocean Oil & Gas in Lagos, Nigeria, said: “Automechanika Dubai offers the ideal platform to meet suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors from across the world.”

The CENS booth displayed its line of sourcing guides, with Taiwan Transportation Equipment Guide (TTG), China Transportation Equipment Guide (CTG), and Taiwan Industrial Suppliers (TIS) being very popular.

Lightfair International

Lightfair International (LFI) is the world's largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference. This year the fair was held June 3-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, USA for its 25th edition, covering a record show space of  239,800 square feet and attracting 576 exhibitors, including 107 first-time exhibitors and 103 manufacturers headquartered outside the U.S.

LFI's expanded show featured a product mix of over 40 categories that included integrated design, alternative energy and solar power, OLEDs, healthcare, hospitality, digital signage and software.

The 3-day event saw record-breaking attendance with 26,059 attendees who came from 74 countries. “Lightfair International brings together exhibitors from across the globe and offers world-class education. Missing Lightfair is not an option if you want to keep up with trends and stay ahead of the competition,” noted William Hanley, executive vice president, IES.

The 2014 LFI Conference offered over 220 hours of education and contained 81 accredited courses, making it the largest Conference in LFI history. The fair introduced two forums this year—the LFI Healthcare Lighting Forum and the LFI Hospitality Lighting Forum.

CENS sent a circulation specialist to promote buyer guides, with CENS Lighting capturing ample attention among visitors and buyers.

Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition

The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition is part of Messe Frankfurt's architecture and technology shows, headed by the biennial Light+Building event in Frankfurt. The Guangzhou show, running concurrently with Electrical Building Technology Guangzhou, is organized by Guangzhou Guanghya Mess Frankfurt Co., Ltd.

This exhibition is regarded as Asia's most influential and comprehensive lighting and LED event, with this year's event being the 19th edition and held June 9-12 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou, which attracted 2,911 exhibitors across 23 halls covering some 245,000 square meters.

Five Categories of Products

Technical lighting—exterior/street lighting, workplace & factory lighting, architectural, commercial & construction lighting, sport arena, garden & public area lighting, explosion-resistant lights & mine lights, emergency lights, solar-powered lights.

Decorative lighting—chandeliers, floor & table lamps, wall lights, modern & traditional lights, crystal lights, and Christmas lights.

Accessories & electronic components—lampshades, reflectors, raw material & assembly technology, ballasts, capacitors, relays & other electronic devices, cables, lamp holders & lamp heads, hardware, leads & related accessories.

LED technology—epitaxial wafers, LED raw, substrate & packaging materials, LED chips, LED packaging, components & modules, LED drivers & controllers, LED displays & signs, LED manufacturing & inspection equipment.

Electric lights—incandescent lamps (e.g. halogen lamps), discharge lamps (e.g. fluorescent lamps), LED retrofit lamps and lighting fixtures.

CIMES

China Int'l Machine Tool & Tools Exhibition (CIMES) is a truly global machine tool trading and sourcing platform held in the world's biggest machine tool market—China, offering cost effective, integrated marketing solutions before, during and after the show to enable participants to meet, conduct business not only with target buyers in China from traditional application industries, but also those from the fast emerging industries, including aerospace and aviation, medical equipment, shipbuilding and new energy.

As Asia's leading machine tool exhibition for metal-cutting tools and CNC machines, this event also showcases the very latest high-end metalworking and industrial automation technology.

CIMES 2014, held June 18-22 at the New China International Exhibition Center, Beijing, China, attracted 1,300 exhibitors from 28 countries to display in an area of some 120,000 square meters over 3,000 sets of machine tool & tools, such as flexible manufacturing systems & lathes, heat treating, abrasive machining, jigs, fixtures, cutting tools CAD-CAM, EDM, gear generation, mechanical components, and others.

National pavilions were set up by the UK, France, Brazil, Sweden, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Indonesia, Turkey, South Korea and Italy, with the 5-day event drawing some 85,000 visitors from about 70 countries, mainly Japan, India, Brazil, Russia, and Indonesia.

The CENS booth caught ample attention,  with its buyer guides, particularly Taiwan Machinery, CENS Hardware and TIS, being very popular.

InterPlas Thailand

InterPlas Thailand is Thailand's only plastics & rubber manufacturing machinery show and this year's show entered its 23rd edition, held June 19-22 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center in Thailand.

The 4-day event attracted some 51,563 visitors and buyers from various sectors, including auto parts making, packaging, household appliance  from across Southeast Asia.

Five national pavilions, namely, China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan, were seen as the highlights of the exhibition, with over 1,600 brands from 30 countries having been showcased.

The five exhibition zones covered machinery, materials & chemicals, measuring, control & test equipment, parts & components, and green products. Moreover many industrial conferences were held to enable participants to keep up with the newest know-how.

Fastener Expo Shanghai

As the largest fastener exhibition in Asia and the third largest globally, the 2014 Fastener Expo Shanghai was held June 19-21 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, China.

The 3-day event hosted 655 exhibitors and some 26,100 visitors, confirming the exhibition's reputation as one of the world's most important events for the fastener industry.

The products displayed included standard fasteners, auto fasteners, fastener equipment & technology, fastener equipment & technology, fastener materials, fastener moulds & consumables, and stamped parts & lathed parts. Compared to last year, the scale of the exhibition site has increased 24% to 42,000 square meters with about 1,800 standard booths, housing leading brands as Carlo Salvi, Sacma, WAFIOS, Nedschroef, National, Manzoni, Brankamp, Hyodong, Nakashimada, Chun Zu, Accuvision, Vides, Jern Yao, Chenhao etc.
