3rd TIFS to be First Trade Show in Brand New KECC in 2014

2014/01/13 | By Steve Chuang

With 330 exhibitors having already confirmed participation, the third Taiwan International Fastener Show (TIFS), scheduled April 14-15, 2014 in the newly constructed Kaohsiung Exhibition and Convention Center (KECC), southern Taiwan, will be bigger scaled than the past two editions along with other captivating features.

Organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in association with the Taiwan Industrial Fastener Industry (TIFI), the biennial show was inaugurated in 2010, when about 190 local exhibitors of fasteners and fastener making and testing machinery and some 17,000 visitors showed up in the Kaohsiung Arena, with the second staging in 2012 at the same location attracting over 180 exhibitors and 16,000 visitors.

This trade fair is reputed for gathering Taiwanese fastener manufacturers, mostly clustered in Taiwan's southern city of Kaohsiung, with global buyers to offer the most complete product lineup, becoming a major show of its kind globally.

New Venue
To meet operators' overwhelming demand for sufficient showground and growing concerns over bigger venue and smoother foot traffic among exhibitors, the TIFS will be held for the first time at the KECC in 2014 as the first trade fair to be hosted in the newly opened venue, according to the organizers.

Construction of the KECC began in late October 2010 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013 to take up 44,992 square meters at the heart of Kaohsiung's Multifunctional Commerce and Trade Park, with several international hotels and shopping complexes nearby.

As the city's new landmark, the green facility has a wave-shaped roof to symbolize the nearby ocean and the spirit of Kaohsiung as Taiwan's maritime capital, with a much bigger floor area than the Kaohsiung Arena's, to accommodate up to 1,500 standard-sized booths and a 2,000-seat conference hall, two 800-seat conference rooms and several smaller venues. Visitors can access the TIFS easily and faster, for the KECC is near the Kaohsiung port, international airport and MRT stations.

2 Themed Areas
TIFS 2014 will host 330 exhibitors in two themed exhibition areas: fasteners; related equipment, materials, molds and dies and hand tools to enable easier sourcing, says the organizers.

The fastener area will include local exhibitors as Taikyu Co., Ying Ming Industrial, Shehfung Screws Co., Wei Chih Steel, Tycoon Group Enterprise, Ray-Fu Enterprise, Unitech Products, Chong Cheng Fastener, Homn Reen Enterprise, San Shing Fastech, Hwa Hsing Screw, Fang Sheng Screw, Chite Enterprises, Sheh Kai Precision, Chun Yu Works & Co., and Zyh Yin Ent.

The equipment, materials, molds & dies and hand tool area will present a complete upstream supply chain, including exhibitors as Jern Yao Enterprises (cold headers, bolt formers, etc.), Nufast Logistics (bolts and nuts), Chun Zu Machinery (blind nut formers, multi-stage cold forming machines), Ching Chan Optical Technology (optical sorting machines, 2.5D optical measurement instrument), Wen Yang Machinery (cold headers, screw washer assembling machines), King Ann Industrial (cold headers, socket formers), China Steel Corp. (steels), and so forth.

Global Presence and Other Features
After only a few years of development, the organizers claim that the 3rd TIFS is gaining global presence with its comprehensive exhibit lineup by a larger number of exhibitors from home and abroad. Many foreign buyers and purchasing organizations worldwide have confirmed participation in the show, including Unione Distributori Italiani Bulloneria (the Italian Union of Fastener Distributors) and the India-based Strategise.in, both to send group buyer delegations. Furthermore, TAITRA's 50 overseas operating offices have been promoting the 3rd TIFS to attract over 2,000 buyers to the show.

Concurrent activities during the two-day event will be held, including the 2014 Asian Five Region Fastener Association Conference, an annual conference hosted alternatively in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan, international industry seminars, a pre-opening grand welcome reception dinner, buyer-and-supplier meetings etc.
