2012/10/26 | By Andrew Wang

Taipei, Oct.26, 2012 (CENS)--The second cross-strait economic cooperation forum is set for November 21~22 in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan. An official of MOEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) says Taiwan will focus on cooperation amid emerging industries and small & medium-sized enterprises, also including biotechnology and medical industry.

Mainly attended by scholars from both sides of Taiwan Strait, the forum is regarded as an important policy indicator. Once consensus is reached by the participants, mutual governments will consider the practicability to adjust the cooperation model.

The first forum was held in Kunshan, Suzhou Province, China in 2011, which focused on panels, low-temperature logistics, LED (light-emitting diode), electric vehicles, and wireless city development.

The 2012 forum focuses on “Breakthrough and Innovation”, with three discussions including improvements on current cross-strait industrial cooperation, active mutual investments based on win-win scenario, and cooperation in emerging industries and SMEs, whose definitions will be clarified by bilateral scholars.

An official of MOEA says Taiwan aims to increase new industrial cooperation with a focus on biotechnological industry, including adopting international standards of GLP (good laboratory practice), GMP (good manufacturing practice), and GCP (good clinical practice) etc.
