Taiwan's Computer Parts Makers Benefit from Orders of iPad Mini

Taipei, Oct. 17, 2012 (CENS)--In response to hot sales of 7-inch tablets of Google and Amazon, Apple Inc. planned to launch new 7.85-inch product dubbed “iPad mini” at the end of October, whose parts will be provided by Taiwan makers.

With about seven to eight million units of iPad mini to be shipped by the end of this year, revenues of Taiwan's parts makers will rise in the fourth quarter.

The Taiwanese supply chain of iPad mini include AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), TPK Holding Co., Ltd., Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co., Catcher Technology Co., LTD., Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd., and Genius Electronic Optical Co., Ltd.; while the assembly orders were garnered by Hon Hai Group, and Pegatron Corporation.

AUO will supply the first time Apple LCD panels for tablets, to ship about four million panels in the fourth quarter. As to another panel supplier, LG Display Co. (LGD), the world's leading LCD panel maker in South Korea, will provide around five to six million panels.

iPad mini connectors and flexible print circuits are provided by Cheng Uei as well as FLEXium Interconnect Inc. and Career Technology (MFG.) Co., Ltd, respectively. The orders of iPad mini's cover were garnered by Catcher Technology and Foxconn Technology.

Genius will supply iPad mini camera lens with about five million pixels, with TXC, Simplo Technology and Dynapack Corp. to supply crystal components and battery.
