The TS16949-certified company invests an average of US$1.5 million in product development annually, and supplies 5,000 items including about 150 new items developed yearly. Already a significant supplier of parts for Japanese and American cars, the company eyes high-end European cars, having started about two years ago to develop an average of about 50 new control arms for Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Opel.
Hwang Yu distributes most of its steering parts globally under its own "Three Five" and "Three Star" labels, with the rest supplied as OEM parts to many global brands. 
Hwang Yu kicked off a vital product-diversification project in 2009 by venturing into AM automotive brake calipers. Investing over US$4 million, Hwang Yu set up a new facility near its factory in central Taiwan's Taichung City, incorporating fully automated OE caliper makers as well as various testing, measuring, and inspection equipment and self-developed, dedicated jigs. The calipers are tested for lifecycle under -40C~100C, as well as high pressure 250gf/cm2 destructive testing.
Targeting high-end, multiple (four to six) piston racing calipers, Hwang Yu is confident of its capacity to produce such high-end items due to having R&D, manufacturing, testing and inspection capabilities that exceed most peers.
The maker is also ISO 14001 approved to show its eco-friendliness and be the first of its kind in Taiwan to be so certified.
