The biennial 2012 Taipei Manufacturing Technology Show (MT duo'12) will be held May 3-6 at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Nangang Exhibition Hall. Co-organized by the government-funded Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), the MT duo used to be staged at the TWTC Halls I & II in the Xinyi Dist. near the Taipei City Government. TAITRA says the relocation to the newer, bigger Nangang venue will better meet rising demand.

To take up 8,100 square meters in net venue floorage, the show this year expects to attract over 300 local and foreign exhibitors, who will occupy more than 900 booths, up 28.3% from the previous show in 2010.

With the Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS), Asia's second-largest machine-tool show, held concurrently to make up MT duo 2012, this event is widely viewed as a wide-ranging machine-tool and technology show, with exhibits covering smart automation equipment & components; micro/nano manufacturing equipment; CAD/CAM soft/hardware & control systems; equipment for optoelectronic & green industry; equipment for making bio/medical & healthcare-related products; equipment for making vehicle-related industry; and sheet-metal processing machines.

TAITRA says the event will attract many major exhibitors from home and abroad, including DMG/Mori Seiki, Kenuc Precision Machinery Co., Star Corp., Goodway Machine Corp., You Ji Machine Industrial Co., Mitutoyo Taiwan Co., Renishaw (Taiwan) Inc., Corremax International Co. etc.

The Trade Office of Swiss Industries (TOSI), a TIMTOS participant for 10 straight sessions, will set up a national pavilion for outstanding Swiss firms at the MT duo'12, including Chain Year Industrial Corp., Blaser Swisslube Taiwan Inc., LYEDM Industrial Corp., AVS Trading Co., GSTC Technology Co., DKSH Taiwan Ltd., Full Bright Industrial Supply Center Co., Agie Charmilles Taiwan Ltd., etc.

MT duo is widely viewed as one of the most important manufacturing equipment and technology shows in Asia.

Despite the still-lingering European debt crisis, MT duo 2012 can look to encouraging statistics from last year. According to figures compiled by the TAMI, Taiwan's exports of machinery to Germany and France grew 62.6% and 42.6% year-on-year, respectively in the first 11 months of last year, as well as 14.9% annual growth in exports to India, reflecting rising demand for Taiwan-made machinery in both industrialized and emerging nations.
