Taipei, Feb. 10, 2012 (CENS)--Seeing favorable business climate in the emerging markets, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) recently instructed Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to set up this year seven overseas business centers in five emerging economies, namely India, Brazil, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Mexico.
TAITRA indicated that three of the seven projected overseas business centers will be set up in three large cities in India, namely Chennai, Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). And the remaining four centers will each be established in the other four nations.
With a large population of more than 1.2 billion, India is now the world’s second largest country next only to China in terms of population. In 2010 the country was ranked as the world’s 20th exporter and 13th importer, and has today outstripped Japan to become the world’s third largest purchasing power.
Brazil is the world’s fifth largest nation with a population of near 200 million, and is expected to see robust economy in the coming years as it is authorized to host the Football World Cup in 2014 and Olympic Summer Games in 2016.
