Acer Allegedly to Debut Ultrabook PC at Germany's iFA

Taipei, Aug. 23, 2011 (CENS)--Acer Inc., a globally leading PC supplier, will allegedly unveil its first Ultrabook PC, coded Aspire 3951, at the iFA, the world's largest consumer electronic and household appliance trade show to be held Sept. 2-7 in Berlin, Germany, staging a comeback from its current business declines.

It is reported that the Aspire 3951 is built with Intel's newest edition of Sandy Bridge processor, a 13.3-inch screen, aluminum alloy case, with an exterior design as skinny and compact as Apple's MacBook Air.

The product has been regarded as Acer's business growth drive, especially after the firm fell to the fourth place in the global market for notebook PCs and gave up its leading status to its Taiwanese counterpart Asustek Computer Inc. in East Europe in the second quarter of this year.

Ultrabook PC is the newest laptop design concept brought by Intel, which has just announced a US$300 million investment in establishing a so-called Ultrabook fund recently, in a bid to assist its hardware partners in developing and promoting the next-generational laptop model.

Coincidentally, Asustek is also expected to release its Ultrabook PC dubbed UX21 at the end of September, ready to trigger competition against Acer in the segment.

In fact, Intel has revealed that several large-sized PC brands, including Acer, Asus and Lenovo, will launch their Ultrabook laptops starting in the fourth quarter, which will be priced at below US$999 per unit as their aces in the hole to fight back against Apple's MacBook Air.
