Largan and Genius Ship 8 Mega-Pixel Camera Lens for Future iPhones
2011/07/27 | By Quincy LiangTaipei, July 27, 2011 (CENS)--Taiwan's Largan Precision Co., Ltd. and Genius Electronic Optical Co., Ltd. have begun in July to ship cellphone camera lens for the next-generation iPhone, which will be in stores in the third quarter, according to industry sources.
Genius' revenue rose in the fourth quarter of 2010 driven by shipments of 500 mega-pixel camera lens for the iPhone4, with the fourth-quarter profits only offsetting losses in the previous three quarters.
Both Largan and Genius refused to specify names of buyers, but the latter revealed having started shipments of 8 mega-pixel camera lens in July, with volumes to rise gradually in the following months.
Before shipping 8 mega-pixel camera lens to iPhone, Largan had already delivered many such lens to Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC. The CEO Lin En-ping pointed out that Largan's shipments of 8 mega-pixel camera lens in the second half without exceeding 5 mega-pixel products, adding that 8 mega-pixel cameras will in 2012 become mainstream.
