Taipei, April 12, 2011 (CENS)--Poised as Asia's largest and the world's fourth-largest machine tool show, the six-day 2011 China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT 2011) kicked off yesterday at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, drawing a record number of 83 manufacturers of machine tools and accessories from Taiwan.

As the CIMT 2011 is the first large-sized machine-tool exhibition ever held in China since the cross-Taiwan Strait economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) hit the road in the beginning of this year, participating firms from Taiwan will largely showcase their latest innovative products, including five-axis machining centers, multi-tasking machine tools, and large-sized vertical lathes.

Hsu Hsiu-tsang, chairman of Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), noted Taiwan's machine-tool manufacturers will enjoy tax reduction for selling products to China in the post-ECFA era. He notes China has become the world's largest market for machine tools and the CIMT will provide the most optimal venue for international buyers to access high-quality Taiwan-made machine tools and serve as a platform for industrial cooperation and resource integration of relevant manufacturers across the Taiwan Strait.

The CIMT 2011 is widely viewed as one of the world's most important machine-tool shows because China has a huge domestic consumer market. TAMI has already organized visiting groups to take part in the CIMT shows for 20 years.

According to statistics compiled by the TAMI, Taiwan's participating firms occupy 489 booths or 4,401 square meters at the CIMT 2011, compared to 364 booths or 3,275 square meters at last show held two years ago.

Outstanding represented Taiwanese firms at the show can be divided into four categories, including the metal-cutting machine tools (Fair Friend Group, Victor Taichung Machinery Works Co., Yeong Chin Machinery Industries Co., Kao Ming Machinery Industrial Co., Dah Lih Machinery Industry Co., Tong Tai Machine & Tool Co., Far East Machinery Co., She Hong Industrial Co., Falcon Machine Tools Co., Wele Mechatronic Co., Kao Fong Machinery Co., Taiwan Takisawa Technology Co., Awea Mechantronic Co. and Goodway Machine Corp.), metal-forming machine tools (Tailift Co. and Shieh Yih Machinery Industry Co.), machine-tool components and accessories (Hiwin Technologies Corp., Keyarrow (Taiwan) Co., Habor Precise Industries Co. and GSA Technology Co.), and control devices (LNC Technology Co.)

Thanks to the global economic recovery, Taiwan saw overall production value of machinery grow 32.35% year-on-year to reach NT$900 billion in 2010 from the previous year's NT$680 billion, according to statistics compiled by the TAMI. It is expected Taiwan's machinery industry will see overall production value break the NT$1 trillion mark to top NT$1.05 trillion in 2011.
