HannStar Expects Sales Growth due to Rising Touch Panel Shipment

Taipei, October 22, 2009 (CENS)--HannStar Display Co., one of Taiwan's five largest manufacturers of TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) flat panels, is expected to see sales grow in October from the previous month due to increased shipments of touch panels.

HannStar is increasing the proportion of production of flat panels for NB PCS and Netbooks, as well as boosting sales of touch panels by cooperating with its subsidiary-Sintek Photronic Corp., who will enable HannStar to integrate flat panels with touch-panels to enhance their competitiveness.

With 13.4-inch touch-panel products already certified by clients, Sintek is expected to also obtain certifications for other product lines, including 10.1-, 11.6-, 12.1-, 14-, 15.6- and 17.3-inch touch-panel products, which will be widely used in Netbooks and NBs.

Despite a sales decline in September, HannStar will reverse the trend to register positive sales growth in October due to having recovered sufficient supply of glass substrates.

In addition, HannStar has raised the added value of its products by developing such new-generation high-definition flat panels with RGB (red, green and blue) backlight to enhance competitiveness.
