Taipei, Nov. 24, 2008 (CENS)--Increasing popularity of Netbook PCs has driven Japanese brands to also develop such low-priced laptops, with Fujitsu recently unveiling its M1010 series supplied by Taiwan`s First International Computer Inc. as the foremost among Japanese brands, according to company sources.
Fujitsu`s M1010 Netbook PC features an 8.9-inch screen running in 1024x600, and adopts Intel`s Atom N270 processor, a built-in 60GB hard disk drive and 1GB DDR2 memory, with weight of 1kg. The PC comes with a 3-year warranty to differentiate from others by offering superior services.
According to Fujitsu Taiwan, Fujitsu is changing its marketing strategy to focus promotion on medium- and low-price notebook PCs to meet demands in the recent financial tsunami, and will launch a new 15-inch notebook PC for around NT$20,000 in Taiwan next month.
Although Fujitsu generally engages in in-house assembly of own-branded notebook PCs instead of outsourcing; but First International Computer has successfully attracted the order from the Japanese brand with cutting-edge production efficiency known through out the industry in Taiwan.
Furthermore, Fujitsu claimed recently that it is going to buy a 50% controlling stake for euro450 million in Fujitsu Siemens, a joint venture between the brand and Germany`s Siemens. This is encouraging news for Taiwanese notebook PC makers, mainly because the joint venture has outsourced own-branded notebook PCs for sale in Europe from Taiwan-based Quanta Computer Inc. and Compal Electronics Inc. for a time and Fujitsu`s move will allow Taiwanese makers, for many reasons, to absorb more orders in the future, according to institutional investors.
