The Taiwan Economic News, an online news service operated by the Taipei-based China Economic News Service (CENS), erred in its report dated March 14, 2003 on Yeong Chin Machinery Industries, a leading machine tool maker in Taiwan.
Titled "Yeong Chin Develops CNC Machine Tool Control Software," the report reads "...In addition to machine tools, the firm has become increasingly successful in developing and manufacturing national defense, aerospace parts, precision molds, auto parts, and relevant components for IT (information technology) and molds."
Actually and since its founding over 50 years ago, Yeong Chin has never developed nor manufactured products for "national defense" applications, while the firm`s mechanical products are widely employed by world-renowned business partners as Honda, GM Automotive, Foxconn Technology, AU Optronics and Giant Bicycle etc.
CENS sincerely apologizes for such oversight in the captioned report as well as any inconvenience and misunderstanding resulting from the misreporting, hoping this correction clarifies Yeong Chin`s corporate history and product line.
