Motorola, Sony Ericsson Buy Mobile Phones From Taiwan Suppliers

2008/09/05
Taipei, Sept. 5, 2008 (CENS)-Planning to launch new mobile phones in Taiwan in the second half of this year, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, both major global brands, have ordered VE538 series 3G phone and X1 series smartphones, respectively, from their Taiwan contract suppliers, Qsida Corporation and High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC), according to company sources.

Motorola is to officially launch the VE538 in Taiwan this September, adding that the newest 3G phone is especially designed to ease linking to the Internet, socializing online and blogging. The brand is going to focus its promotion on such phone in the second half of the year.

Since early this year, Qisda has landed several contract orders from Motorola for 3G phones, in addition to the VE538, and the Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) has already started delivery this August. However, the firm`s annual shipment of VE538 will depend on Motorola`s global sales in the remaining months of the year.

Sony Ericsson, since debuting its newest X1 series smartphone, has been planning to launch new phones in Taiwan in the second half of the year. According to Steven Yeh, president of Sony Ericsson Taiwan branch, the X1 series is supplied by HTC and slated for global launch in the fourth quarter of this year, including Taiwan.

In fact, Sony Ericsson has already launched two new smartphones in Taiwan this year, and, together with X1 series, is expected to further enhance its product range.
