Display Taiwan 2009 to Kick Off on June 11

Taipei, May 9, 2008 (CENS)--The Display Taiwan 2008, the largest international flat panel display (FPD) trade exhibition on the island, will be held from June 11 to 13 at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall 1 with over 260 exhibitors occupying over 700 booths, according to organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The annual FPD event would be moved to Nankang Exhibition Hall in 2009, then grow to become the world`s largest such fair by 2010, TAITRA said.

Taiwan is a global production base of thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels and the largest market of FPD manufacturing equipment, materials, and key parts, TAITRA said. This year`s Display Taiwan will be co-organized by also PIDA (Photonic Industry & Technology Development Association), Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), Taipei Computer Association (TCA).

TAITRA will also hold the Display Taiwan 2008 Market & Technology Forum, with over 20 related topics to be addressed by international experts, including Alan Eusden, president of Corning Taiwan will talk about on the topic of "Changing LCD Industry: A Viewpoint From Taiwan to World", and Wolfgang Mildner, chairman of Organic Electronics Association of Germany will speak about the Flexible Display Technology Advancement.

Other hot forum topics include touch panel, digital signboard, 3D display technology, emerging display techniques such as organic light-emit diode (OLED), flexible display, Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS), and others.

Almost all major FPD makers in Taiwan are scheduled to showcase their latest products at the coming event, including AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. (CMO), Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd. (CPT), Wintek Corp., Prime View International Corp., RiTdisplay Corp., as well as major international players such as AKT, JSR< Hitachi, Canon, Nissan Chemical, Corning, 3M etc.
